Here's what other Parents have said about our Treatment Program...

Behavioral Parent Training

Parenting can be difficult. When children act out, exhibit behavioral problems, or not performing in school can cause a tremendous strain on the family unit and its ability to have a calm household.   At NECBT, we teach you an approach to working through your children's behavioral problems.

Behavioral Parent Training is a program designed for parents, teachers, and administrators looking to learn strategies to help improve children's behavior in the home, school, and social environments. Behavioral Parent Training is an integral part of helping the children in our treatment system gain skills to provide optimal treatment outcomes. In an 8 week workshop, offered on Tuesday evenings (6-8pm).  Parents learn how to work with their child, support their treatment and empower them to modify the child's/adolescent's behaviors by learning and implementing the I-CBT skills that the child is learning in sessions. In addition, and also key to treatment success, are the evidence-based behavioral techniques that should be used in the home.  These techniques are supported by hundreds of clinical research trials and studies aimed at modifying challenging childhood/adolescent behavioral issues.

In Behavioral Parent Training, we use a method derived from the concrete science of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in conjunction with a learning method known as PMT.  Studies have shown and researchers have noted that "[b]ehavioral parent training has emerged as one of the most successful and well-researched interventions to date in the treatment and prevention of child and adolescent problem behaviors." BPT training teaches parents how to encourage appropriate behaviors from your children and how to effectively use reinforcement techniques to help shape children's behavior.

NECBT's Behavioral Parent Training has worked wonders on families with children as young as 4 and as old as 16, and the feedback we have received has been glowing. Although, our program starts at the age of 9.  Once parents begin to apply at home what they learn in our training, they often find that their children are more polite, respectful, productive, and obedient. The most common feedback we hear is that our Behavioral Parent Training has "just made the whole home environment so much more positive!"

Anxiety / Panic Attacks

Our daughter no longer has panic attacks. She has become a good listener. The parent class is helpful for the parents to learn the technique, how to handle your child when they have behavioral problems, and coping mechanisms. It is very helpful for us.  It is a good program. We liked it.

Anxiety / high functioning Autism

Not only did we learn a lot about how our son thinks and reacts to situations, we also learned a lot about ourselves. We learned how important our role is in I-CBT and how our own rational/irrational thinking can affect our child.  As a family, this has helped answer a lot of questions. For us, it made us realize we are not alone...we are more understanding of each other and overall the stress level in our home has decreased substantially.  There are no miracles, but I-CBT comes pretty close! We walked in feeling helpless and we are leaving with knowledge, a plan, and the tools to keep going!
